Gold Apron Teaching Kitchen: Home Made Fresh Fish Tacos!

We are excited to share the latest from our Gold Apron Teaching Kitchen, a monthly event where lucky students have the opportunity to learn culinary skills from professional chefs right here on campus. Led by our talented Director of Culinary, Jonathan Burns, and our Registered Dietitian, Madison Fishler, this hands-on cooking experience is designed to teach students the art of preparing delicious meals, using fresh, seasonal ingredients, and cooking techniques that they can recreate at home.

November’s Gold Apron Teaching Kitchen: Fish Tacos!

In our November session, students were treated to a fun and flavorful cooking experience! Those selected through our monthly raffle learned how to make scratch-made tortillas, homemade veggie salsa, and authentic fish tacos. From filleting and frying fish to preparing the perfect tortilla, it was a hands-on class where students gained valuable culinary knowledge and skills. Each participant also had the opportunity to bring a guest along, making it a fun and interactive way to share the love of cooking!

Our Director of Culinary, Jonathan Burns, and Registered Dietitian, Madison Fishler, guided the students step-by-step through each process, emphasizing the importance of fresh, healthy ingredients and culinary creativity. As always, the goal of the event is to inspire students to explore new recipes and feel confident in the kitchen, whether they’re cooking for themselves or sharing a meal with friends.

How It Works: The Gold Apron Experience

Students interested in attending the Gold Apron Teaching Kitchen can enter our monthly raffle through the Wake Forest Dining website. Every month, a few lucky winners are drawn to join the session, where they can learn alongside our chefs and dietitians, and enjoy a fun evening of cooking and eating.

What’s Next?

The next Gold Apron Teaching Kitchen event will take place once students return from winter break, and we can’t wait to see what new culinary skills we’ll be sharing! Be sure to check out the Wake Forest Dining page for updates and information on how to enter the raffle for your chance to join the fun in January.

Stay tuned for more updates, and we hope to see you at a future Gold Apron Teaching Kitchen event!
