Celebrating the Most Memorable Time at Wake Forest- Pitsgiving

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – On November 21st, Deacon Dining hosted the highly anticipated 2024 Pitsgiving celebration, and it was truly a day to remember. Held all day long at The Pit, this year’s event brought together students, faculty, and staff for a heartfelt Thanksgiving celebration.

As soon as guests entered The Pit, they were immersed in a transformed dining atmosphere. Black drapes, elegant crystal centerpieces, and a warm orange glow from the mood lighting set the stage for a festive and elevated experience. Twinkling lights decorated the space, creating the perfect ambiance for a day of community and gratitude.

The Pit buzzed with excitement throughout the day, with groups of students making the most of this special occasion. Many gathered around tables with friends, bringing props, games, and even a few TVs to watch movies and enjoy the event together. A photo area was set up during lunch for students to capture fun moments with props and friends, adding to the festive spirit. We were also excited to have surprise visits from the Wake Forest mascot and President Susan Wente, who joined in the celebration and shared their thanks with the community.

A Feast to Remember
Of course, the highlight of Pitsgiving was the incredible Thanksgiving feast. Guests enjoyed all the classic dishes that make the holiday so special, including turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese, and stuffing. The back of The Pit was taken over by the Bakery department, who wowed everyone with pumpkin flan, warm cookies, and other delectable treats. A standout creation was the stunning 3D gingerbread house of Reynolda Hall, expertly crafted by the talented team at the Bakery. This intricate edible masterpiece was a true showstopper and a fitting centerpiece for the celebration.

Gratitude to Our Community
A huge thank you goes to the incredible Deacon Dining team, whose hard work and dedication made Pitsgiving 2024 such a success. Their efforts brought together a warm, welcoming atmosphere for the entire Wake Forest community.
