Meal Plans FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Meal Swipes are used for entry to any of our residential dining venues which are the Fresh Food Company (the Pit), Hilltop Market at North Dining Hall, and the Magnolia Room. Old Gold Swipes are pre-determined combo meals at all of our retail locations such as Chick-Fil-A and Subway that include one or more selections of an entrée and drink! Old Gold Swipes give you more flexibility with your plan and are advertised at each of our locations for you to choose from! If you would like a menu item, not on that list, then you would use your food dollars provided in your meal plan. Swipes expire at the end of each semester.
Weekly Plans:
The Freedom and Forestry (Swipe only, no Old Golds) plans are weekly plans. You get 21 meals per week (they do expire at the end of the week). Swipes/Old Golds reload on Thursday mornings. You can check your balance by going to your Google App Launcher and clicking the Deacon Dining icon. Directions to create an account.
Block Plans:
The Black Plus, Base, Gold, Screamin’, Apartment, and Commuter plans are block plans. With Block plan, you get a set number of swipes/Old Golds for the semester. There are no restrictions on how many you can use in a week. Swipes/ Old Golds expire at the end of the semester.

Your meal swipes and old gold swipes expire at the end of each semester. Your unused food dollars will carry over from fall to spring semester and will expire at the end of the spring semester. When you add additional food dollars to your account, they do not expire. They remain until they are used. However, once you graduate, you lose the balance if you have any.
Students should follow these steps in order to change their meal plan: Log into WIN> Virtual Campus> Residence Life and Housing> 2025-26 Application. They will need to click on the “Meal Plan” tab and make their change request once they are in the 2025-26 application.
Meal plans are activated on August 20th
