Special Events on Campus
Our dining team loves to create unique, memorable events for our guests on campus. Here are just a few examples of special events that we organize on campus each year.
Each month we host a Supper Club somewhere on campus where our culinary team will be serving a 5 course plated tasting menu for a small group of guests! This exclusive event is a wonderful way for our chefs to show off their culinary talent!
We love to welcome local businesses into our dining halls so that students can experience great food that is right in our backyard. Look forward to seeing some of our local restaurants like the Porch, Alma, Silo, Canteen and Penny Path taking over the Pit grill several times each month.
Food Truck Friday’s
On various Fridays, throughout the semester during 11–2 we will feature a variety of Food Trucks on the Mag Quad. Students can use cash, credit or their meal plans to purchase food and try a variety of delicious local food.
We love organizing occasional special meals for our students. A favorite was our Great Gatsby themed event and our Beach Party complete with a roasted pig. These events always have GREAT food and music
Deacon Dining partners with the Office of Wellbeing and Campus Recreation to offer weekly hands-on nutrition events, with recipes and activities, aimed to help students approach eating well with confidence. Look for information about the upcoming events on dining hall monitors and social media. For a complete calendar go to www.thrive.wfu.edu
Pop Up Cuisine
Several times a month Deacon Dining features fun, random, interactive dining pop up events to surprise and delight our guests. Alerts are sent out via Instagram letting you know when and where the pop up will be. Some of our most popular pop-ups have included an Avocado Toast Bar, Berry/Fruit Bar, Cake Pops Bar and a Bagels & Lox Bar. Follow us on Instagram @deacondining to find out when and where our next one will be.Pop-Up Calendar
Deacon Dining Culinary Chefs partner with local farmers once a month to feature special recipes highlighting fresh, local ingredients. In the past we featured chicken lettuce wraps made with local watercress and Bibb lettuce from Sunny Creek Farms and Sliders featuring beef from Brasstown Beef
Global Foods Dining
The Wake Forest University Food Committee brings together WFU students, faculty and staff and Deacon Dining to share diverse cultural and religious holidays, celebrations and heritages as expressed through our foods. These tasting occur every other Wednesday in the Pit.
Mark your calendar now for Pitsgiving! This annual event takes place the Thursday before Thanksgiving in the Pit – get it Pitsgiving! On this day you get to celebrate Thanksgiving the entire day with your WFU family and friends all day. We will be serving turkey legs, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and all of your other Thanksgiving favorites all day.
Look for vendor sampling tables around campus during the semester and find some new and delicious products from vendors like Updog Kombucha, Gorilla Grains, MATI, Big Spoon and PS Snacks. Utilizing local vendors is a big part of who we are! We are so excited about our local vendors that we want to make sure you have the opportunity to taste what they have to offer.
Have an idea, question or need? Just jot it down on a napkin and put it up on the Napkin Talk Board. We will get back to you as quickly as we can with a response. Napkin Talk boards can be found in the Pit and Benson Food Court.
