HTCG Apprenticeship Program
Eddy was selected for the Harvest Table Culinary Group’s Apprenticeship Program. The program sponsored by Chef Matt Thompson began this summer. He will be mentored by Executive Chef Jordan and the executive team here at Wake Forest. We are so excited to launch this program at WFU.

I Make A Difference
Precious Ford is one of our Food Service Workers at Hilltop Market. She has been a part of the Deacon Dining Family for 5 years. Her biggest hobby outside of Deacon Dining is going to Church. Precious’ favorite part about working on the Wake campus is getting to interact with all of the students on a daily basis. Next time you see Precious be sure to give her a huge thank you for all of her continuous hard work and dedication to making Deacon Dining the best that it can be!
Sharon Jones works in our catering department here at WFU. She has been a part of the Deacon Dining Family for 22 years. Some of her hobbies include reading, walking, and attending WFU Football Games. She loves being on campus and at work and adores all of the students, faculty, and staff. Sharon is such a light on the Wake Forest campus and loved by so many. We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication in everything you do.
TJ Wise is our Vegan Chef in The Pit here at WFU. She has been a part of the Deacon Dining Family for 2 years. Some of her hobbies include baking, cooking, painting, and designing clothes. TJ’s favorite part about working at Deacon Dining is being able to create new and exciting vegan dishes for our guests. Next time you are in The Pit, make sure you say hello to TJ and thank her for all of her hard work.
Brent Hepler is the Sous Chef at North Dining Hall. Brent has been part of the Deacon Dining Team for around 8 months. Some of his hobbies include fishing and playing basketball. Brent’s favorite memory from working at Deacon Dining was the Freshman Luau Event that he played an instrumental part in. Next time you are at North, be sure to say hello to Brent and thank him for all of his hard work and dedication!
Mary Gillespie is the production assistant in The Pit. Mary has been part of the Deacon Dining Team for 4.5 years. Her favorite hobby is to take care of her many, indoor plants. Mary has a great love for animals. She has cats, dogs, hamsters, fish, rabbits and even a lizard! Her favorite part about Deacon Dining is the diverse group of students, faculty and staff that she gets to interact with. While your in The Pit, be sure to say hello to Mary!
Lexi Ciaccia has been a part of the Deacon Dining staff for 6 months as the Social Media Manager. In her free time she likes to do woodworking projects for her small business. Lexi was nominated for being a team player and her willingness to help wherever she can. She has also been instrumental in creating awareness of Deacon Dining activities through her Instagram posts and chalkboards.
Terri Ervin has been a part of the Deacon Dining staff for 5 years as a Retail Specialist at North P.O.D. Her favorite part about working with Deacon Dining is getting to surround herself with wonderful students and co-workers. She loves when her peers make her laugh. Terri was nominated for her hard work and commitment. She is always happy and does whatever is asked.
Tanya Qualkenbush has been a part of the Deacon Dining staff for 24 years as the Catering Coordinator. Her favorite part about working at WFU is getting to work with the wonderful students, faculty and staff. Tanya was nominated for being helpful, creative and quick to respond. She cares about our WFU customers and goes above and beyond for them.
Briana Lindsay has been a part of the Deacon Dining staff for 2 years now as a Team Leader at Starbucks. Her favorite part about working with Deacon Dining is coming in every morning to set up and make sure that students have everything they need. She also enjoys getting to greet each and everyone one of them. Briana was nominated for stepping up and covering shifts when needed and making sure that students always have a happy experience.
Joycenetta Shelton has been a part of the Deacon Dining staff for a year now as a server at Shorty’s. Her favorite part about working with Deacon Dining is interacting with the students. She also enjoys the vibrant atmostphere all over campus. Joycenetta was nominated for her hard work and positive attitude. The Shorty’s crew loves that she is a great team player!
Jovita Thomas has been a part of the Deacon Dining staff since 2005 as a supervisor, although you can find her helping out in any way she can in all parts of The Pit. Her favorite part about working with Deacon Dining is the students. She enjoys the respect that they have for her. Jovita says she feels such a reward after leaving work each day thanks to our WFU students. She was nominated for her consistency, hardwork, and patience.
Carolyn Post has been a member of the Deacon Dining staff since May 2017. Carolyn works diligently behind the scenes to make sure that students, faculty and staff have a great experience at health wellness and global food events. Her favorite part about working for Deacon Dining is being involved with special events around campus. In Carolyn’s free time, she enjoys gardening and sewing. Next time you see Carolyn in The Pit, make sure you stop and say hi!
Gerardo Flores has been a member of the Deacon Dining team since the beginning of 2018. Gerardo is crucial to the success of the preparation team, because of his effectiveness and quick thinking. Anytime the Executive chefs need a helping hand, he never hesitates to assist them with whatever they need. It is safe to say that Gerardo is a delight to work with, and we are grateful for his commitment to Deacon Dining!
Jasmine Bowman has been a member of the Deacon Dining staff since September 2018. Jasmine’s favorite part about working in The Pit is having the opportunity to greet students every morning. During her free time, Jasmine enjoys visiting the gym and spending quality time with her daughter. While you’re in The Pit, be sure to stop by and say hello!
Victor Molina has been a member of the Deacon Dining team since the beginning of 2018. Victor typically works with the preparation team. However, he is known to jump in and assist wherever he is needed. He even offers to stay longer on busier days to help out. The Executive Chef knows he can count on Victor to get the job done. It is safe to say that Victor definitely knows the value of teamwork.
