Celebrating our Hard Working Team Members who “Make A Difference”
As we wrap up another incredible year, it’s time to reflect on the amazing contributions of our Deacon Dining team. Throughout the year, we’ve had the privilege of recognizing ten outstanding individuals who embody the spirit of our “I Make A Difference” campaign. These team members have gone above and beyond to create a welcoming and connected environment, and we are deeply grateful for their hard work and dedication.
Alycia We kicked off our campaign by celebrating our Pit Supervisor Alycia. Alycia’s enthusiasm and willingness to lend a helping hand have made her an invaluable part of our team. Whether she’s riding four-wheelers or playing the saxophone, Alycia brings joy and positivity to everything she does. Her favorite dish? The delicious flank steak from the All Good station!
Shu Mar Next, we recognized Shu Mar Tway, who joined our family in 2022. Shu Mar’s warmth and positive energy brighten every day, and her dedication to our team is truly inspiring. She loves everything on our menu and finds joy in singing, reflecting her vibrant personality. Shu Mar is a beacon of positivity and care, making a difference in the most meaningful ways.
Monique Monique, our Lead Supervisor at the Mag Room, has been with us for an incredible eight years. Her fun, creative, and adventurous spirit brings people together and makes every day brighter. Monique’s favorite dish is the baked mac and cheese, a fan favorite. She turns the Mag Room into a place where everyone feels welcome and cared for.
Renee Ms. Renee, a true legend in our community, has been with us for 24 years. Her warm smile and friendly “hello” greet everyone with a meal plan, making students and families feel right at home. Renee’s favorite meal is the salmon, and she loves spending weekends with her children and cats. Her dedication and kindness make a difference every day.
Millie Millie from Smith’s has been a cherished part of our team for three years. Known for her perfectly brewed coffee, Millie is dependable, hardworking, and always makes everyone feel at home. Her favorite drink to make and enjoy is a Caramel Macchiato. Millie’s passion and dedication keep our operation running strong.
Danni Ms. Danni from Catering has been making people’s days for 30 years with her warm, comforting spirit and bright smile. She cherishes time with her grandbabies and loves the spicy chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A. Ms. Danni is more than a coworker; she’s family, bringing joy and kindness wherever she goes.
Ethel Ms. Ethel at North Dining Hall joined us in August 2024 and has quickly become a cherished part of our community. Her vibrant energy and kindness brighten the days of students and staff alike. Ms. Ethel enjoys NASCAR races and playing Grand Theft Auto, and her favorite meal is a mix of vanilla yogurt, pineapples, and grapes. Her advice on growth and dedication is truly inspiring.
Brenda For the past three years, Miss Brenda has been a valued part of our Harvest Table team. If you frequent Shorty’s, you’ve likely been greeted by her warm smile, shared a laugh, or felt the kindness she brings to everyone around her. With 40+ years as a nurse, caring for others is simply in her nature. Her favorite meal is the Shorty’s Chicken Philly, and she loves connecting with students on campus. Brenda’s bucket list includes zip lining, line dancing, and more adventures ahead. Thank you, Miss Brenda, for all you do!
Jahkeem Meet Jahkeem, the bubbly, smiling face welcoming you into Peet’s at North. He’s been a part of our team for 3.5 years, known for his quick adaptability, warm energy, and positive spirit. His favorite drink to make and enjoy is the Horchata Cold Brew Latte. Outside of work, Jahkeem is a dedicated record collector and passionate music lover. He values the genuine connections he has with his colleagues and students. Thank you, Jahkeem, for the care, joy, and presence you bring to Peet’s.
LaMonica Celebrating Miss LaMonica, who lights up the day at 336 South Market with her smile, energy, and dedication. LaMonica has been part of the Harvest Table family for almost nine years. She loves meeting students and creating a welcoming space for everyone. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry and journaling. Thank you, LaMonica, for being such a bright light and making a difference every single day!
