Chef Ron Stuhm Dazzles Deacon Dining with a Special Sushi Lunch

Winston-Salem, NC – January 27, 2025 — The Deacon Dining Team had the distinct pleasure of hosting a one-of-a-kind lunch event this week at the International Grill Station in The Pit, featuring renowned sushi chef, Ron Stuhm.

Chef Stuhm, who boasts over two decades of experience in the culinary world, is a sushi expert with a prestigious background that includes an apprenticeship under Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. He is also the owner and executive chef of Zen Den Sushi Bar in Montauk, NY, and Sushi, Blues & Steaks in Marco Island, FL—two dining destinations known for their excellence.

Currently serving as Executive Chef for Harvest Table Culinary Group, Stuhm leads culinary innovations while mentoring the next generation of chefs. He also holds a ProChef III ranking from the Culinary Institute of America, a prestigious recognition that speaks to his skill and leadership in the culinary arts.

During his visit to The Pit, Chef Ron put on a stunning display of his expertise by deconstructing a giant 75lbs big-eyed tuna, caught on the NC coast, right behind the food line. The crowd watched in awe as he expertly sliced the fish, preparing a series of vibrant hand rolls featuring big-eye tuna. Each roll was a work of art, with flavors that included squid ink tobiko, yuzu tobiko, white pickled ginger, spicy mayo, cucumber, toasted sesame seeds, bonito flakes, avocado, hand-ground wasabi, and diced mango.

A special mention goes to the hardworking team at The Pit who supported this unique event, tirelessly prepping, rolling, and serving alongside Chef Stuhm. Their dedication ensured that the lunch ran smoothly, and every guest enjoyed a deliciously fresh handroll.
