Deacon Dining Spreads Holiday Cheer with Annual Food Drive for Staff

If you’ve ever stopped by The Pit for lunch and noticed the space near the omelet station filled with tables stacked high with groceries, you might have wondered what’s going on. It’s not a pop-up market—it’s a tradition of giving.

Every year, the Deacon Dining team comes together during the holiday season to support one another. While students enjoy a well-deserved winter break, many dining associates face several weeks without work. To ensure no team member struggles with food insecurity during this time, Deacon Dining organizes an annual grocery drive.

Reusable tote bags are packed to the brim with non-perishable items and essential groceries for staff to take home. This initiative reflects the team’s commitment to caring for its own and doing its part in the fight against food insecurity, especially during the holidays.

Our hardworking staff members are like our family, and we want to make sure they have the means to take care of their own families.

This annual effort is more than just a gesture—it’s a reminder that community and compassion are at the heart of Deacon Dining.
