Mediterranean Makeover at The Pit Brings Bold Flavors and Big Crowds
April 16–18, 2025 – Wake Forest University
Recently The Pit traded its classic slices for something a little more unexpected—and students couldn’t get enough. From April 16–18, the popular pizza station underwent a flavorful transformation with a Lemon & Olive takeover, serving up Mediterranean-inspired dishes that delivered bold taste and vibrant variety.
The special pop-up featured a curated selection of recipes developed by the Harvest Table Culinary Group, including savory lamb meatballs, Spanish marinated chicken, cilantro garlic falafel, and three types of house-made hummus: beet, black bean, and roasted red pepper.
To top it all off, guests could customize their dishes with scratch-made sauces like spicy Harissa and cool, creamy Tzatziki, adding depth and authenticity to every bite.
The response? A clear success. Students flooded the station each day, eager to sample the new menu. The popularity of the event showcased a strong appetite for globally inspired meals and creative culinary twists on campus classics.
Deacon Dining continues to explore new ways to bring innovative, inclusive, and delicious options to the table—one station takeover at a time.
