Persevering Through The Storm

Today we want to take a moment and say thank you to all of our Harvest Table staff that have braved our winter weather in these past few weeks. Many members of our amazing team got together and holed up to brave the storm, ensuring that our students had somewhere dry and welcoming to have a warm meal while the winds whipped outside.

We also want to take a moment to recognize the dedication of one staff member in particular: Quentin. If you looked up the word ‘dedicated’ in the dictionary, we’re pretty sure you would find a picture of Quentin next to it. While the rest of us were taking shelter indoors, Quentin was bundling up and riding his bike to work. Every. Single. Day.

Quentin is a kindhearted, compassionate soul who cares deeply for everything he does. In the thirty years that he’s been on the team, Quentin has been known to never miss work, always does what’s asked, and always works hard. In every season, but especially during challenging ones, Quentin reminds us what true perseverance looks like.

We are endlessly grateful for the spirit he brings to our campus each and every day. Quentin, thank you for showing us what it means to serve with pride, perseverance, and genuine care. Your impact reaches far beyond the kitchen doors—you make this place feel like home.

And don’t think we are the only ones who took notice of our teams hard work this past week. Wake Forest’s American Athletic Director made this comment:

“BRRRRRRRRRR! Let’s start out this edition of From the Quad with a big THANK YOU to all the Wake Forest campus facilities staff, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County and State of North Carolina Department of Transportation workers who have been trying to break up the boiler plate ice that has coated our community! Trust me – I consider myself an expert snow-and-ice navigator, but a few wipe-outs while walking our dogs over the last couple of days have shattered my aura of invincibility and deepened my respect for Mother Nature.

Fortunately, we’ve been able to reactivate our COVID-era virtual skills to keep moving forward, including our dedicated Wake Forest faculty members who have kept learning going on campus this week – and our Harvest Table colleagues who have braved the elements to serve up the good stuff for our students in the Pit! …” – John Currie 1/30/26
