Pitsgiving ~ Where Everyone Has A Seat At The Table

On Thursday, November 20, Deacon Dining hosted its annual Pitsgiving celebration in the main dining hall—a beloved tradition that brings the Wake Forest community together for a festive Friendsgiving feast.

Students began lining up as early as 6 a.m., eager to secure a spot for what many call their favorite campus event of the year. By the time doors opened, the line wrapped around the building, and the Pit quickly reached capacity as friends gathered to share a meal and make memories.

The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy as plates overflowed with freshly carved turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, and seasonal favorites like ginger spice cookies and sweet potato pie. Adding to the fun, the Demon Deacon mascot made a special appearance—joined by a giant turkey mascot—while students enjoyed activities like hand-turkey crafts and coloring pages. Some even brought TVs to set up movies and games, turning the day into a full celebration with friends.

One of the standout highlights was the Allgood Station, which impressed guests with a complete Thanksgiving meal prepared without the top nine allergens. This year, Allgood introduced a new treat: a rich, spongey chocolate cake topped with fresh fruit—both beautiful and delicious.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Pitsgiving, whether you stopped by for a quick hello or camped out all day to hold your spot. Most importantly, we are grateful to our dedicated dining staff, whose hard work made this event possible.

Happy Holidays from Deacon Dining! We can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year.
