Fall Supper Club Recap: October 15th at 5:00 PM
Wake Forest Campus Garden

On Tuesday, October 15th, a select group of students and their plus ones enjoyed a memorable evening at the Fall Supper Club hosted by Deacon Dining in the beautiful Wake Forest Campus Garden off Polo Road. Guests were treated to a delightful five-course meal, prepared right before their eyes, showcasing the vibrant produce sourced from our very own Campus Garden.

The Campus Garden is an engaged and experiential learning space that demonstrates global climate change solutions, like regenerative agriculture, on a small scale. The garden has welcomed students, researchers, and community members since it was established in 2009.

The atmosphere at the Supper Club was warm and inviting, with wooden tables adorned with stunning emerald glassware, pumpkins, artisanal cheeses, alongside creatively displayed candied meats on a clothesline. Pickled vegetables displayed in glass jars came straight from the Campus Garden.

The evening began with Chef Dunbar welcoming guests with a live cooking fire, serving a comforting tomato basil soup paired with a thin slice of bread and whipped cheese frozen with liquid nitrogen. This was followed by seared diver scallops from Chef Levin Funes, accompanied by sliced beets, cucumbers, and smooth avocado puree. Chef Michelle Coleman-Pelky then presented a refreshing garden salad featuring grilled squash atop shredded lettuce, onions, and cheese, showcasing the garden’s bounty. For the fourth course, Chef Kayln Padgett served fire-grilled lamb ribs over sweet potato gnocchi and sautéed Brussels sprouts, leading to a sweet finale of roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate from Chef Kendall Padgett, perfectly capturing the cozy fall vibes by the campfire.

Overall, the Fall Supper Club was a resounding success, celebrating the culinary talents of our chefs and the beauty and bounty of our Campus Garden. All WFU students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to engage with the garden through volunteer opportunities and seasonal events. Anyone interested in helping out can sign up as a volunteer for the garden; no experience is necessary.
